The Renewal of Rolling Stock of HŽ Putnički prijevoz with new electric trains project refers to the procurement of 11 electric trains for urban-suburban transport and 10 electric trains for regional transport.
This project continues the modernization of the rolling stock of HŽ Putnički prijevoz in order to improve regional connectivity and mobility, which will ensure more efficient and competitive railway passenger transport, which will also contribute to the sustainability of the transport system in the Republic of Croatia.
HŽPP will modernize its rolling stock with 11 urban-suburban and 10 regional trains that will provide passengers with greater comfort, ensure greater capacity and more reliable transport, and the trains will run on electrified lines in the Republic of Croatia. In addition to improving the quality of service, the procurement of new electric trains will also result in lower operating costs, the possibility of increasing the frequency of trains and the number of passengers, and reducing environmental pollution.
The new electric trains will have a low-floor composition and will reach a speed of 160 km/h. Regional transport trains will have a capacity of about 200 seats and 200 standing places, and urban-suburban transport trains will have about 130 seats and 380 standing places. Trains will be equipped with ramps for the entry and exit of persons in wheelchairs, a bicycle area, and the entire passenger area will be under video surveillance. Passengers on the train will be provided with free internet access (WiFi).
