As part of the Application of Green Technologies in Railway Passenger Transport project from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026, a battery electric train (BET) and battery train (BT) will be procured and six stable power connections for charging batteries will be installed at Split, Osijek, Varaždin, Bjelovar, Virovitica and Pula stations.
The procurement of battery trains enables the organization of railway passenger transport on non-electrified lines in an environmentally friendly manner by modern vehicles that use electricity for their propulsion.
A grant agreement providing funds to finance the eligible costs of the project was signed on 19 December 2022 by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency for European Union Programmes and Projects and HŽ Putnički prijevoz.
The total value of the project is EUR 21,401,552.85, and the total eligible costs are EUR 17,131,474.10. The grant in the amount of EUR 13,272,280.84 was provided by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026.
The project implementation period runs from 7 December 2022 until 31 December 2024, i.e. 25 months.
The delivery of two battery trains and the commissioning of six stable power connections for battery charging will enable:
