Assistance to passengers in case of train delays or cancellations in international transport
The Agreement on Journey Continuation (AJC) is an agreement between railway companies to assist passengers in arriving at their final destination in the event of a delay or cancellation, as result of which they have missed the connecting line to continue their journey. Without AJC, passengers would need to buy new tickets.
The Agreement on Journey Continuation, in the jurisdiction of the International Committee for Rail Transport (CIT), is upheld by the following railway carriers:

When passengers on an international journey miss their connection due to train delays or cancellations, a certificate of train delay or cancellation is issued by the railway staff.

A train delay or cancellation certificate gives the passenger a right to continue their journey at no additional cost, with the presentation of the original ticket. The trip may be continued by boarding one of the next trains of the carrier whose connection was missed and for which they had a ticket.
